MSE and an MBA

The MSE is a component of the GM Technical Education Program's Dual Degree Program. This innovative program, the first of its kind in the world, delivers two stellar graduate degrees - a technical degree and a management degree - combined in one GM job-related plan of study.

The Dual Degree Program is developed on the conviction that for all firms in all future markets, sustainable competitive advantage will be constructed on a technological foundation. The firms that will lead in global markets will be those that design competitive strength around technical competencies within a business construct. The dual degree builds essential technical competencies and strategic management capabilities within GM. The Dual Degree Program equips the GM professional with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the increasingly complex, technology-based business world of today and the future.

The MSE is the technical foundation and specialization for the business-oriented coursework of the capstone MBA degree. As a result, the employee can earn the MBA by completing as few as 36 additional credits beyond the MSE. The Indiana University, Kelley School of Business offers the capstone MBA degree to GM employees through the GM Technical Education Program.

This contemporary program integrates global and strategic management concepts with technical functions and issues. It is a focused, rather than general, MBA program aimed at increasing GM's technological capability within a technically sophisticated, multinational business environment. With an effective application based approach, the program's total learning experience develops pioneering leaders capable of transforming GM's future.
