The EPE director acts as academic advisor until the
student is officially admitted to the Purdue Graduate
School. In the notification letter of admission, the
student receives the name of an initial faculty advisor.
The initial faculty advisor assists the student in identifying
a major professor and two additional faculty members
with expertise in the student’s fields of interest.
The student is responsible for contacting these faculty
members and asking them to serve on the advisory committee,
with the major professor acting as chair.
It is the responsibility of the advisory committee
to discuss possibilities and assist the student in devising
a Plan of
Study.
